Meet The Dentists

Meet Dr. Maurer

A native to the area, Dr. Maurer loves being able to serve his hometown and practice his craft in Chester. He earned his B.S. in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University and attended VCU’s School of Dentistry, where he received an A.D. Williams scholarship and graduated in the top of his class.

Dr. Maurer knew he wanted to be a dentist since he was a young boy. He approaches his work with a great passion for the way excellent care can positively affect a person’s quality of life. As a dental student, he volunteered with community outreach programs and currently continues helping people who are underserved.

In addition to his general dentistry duties at Callery & Maurer, Dr. Maurer leads the pediatric and surgical portions of the practice and is certified in Invisalign®, which enables him to offer orthodontic care for qualified candidates. Currently, he is also a member of the Southside Dental Society, the Virginia Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.

Meet Dr. Callery

After earning his undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry from East Tennessee State University, Dr. Callery went on to earn his dental degree, from the Medical College of Virginia’s School of Dentistry, graduating with honors in 1976. He has now been practicing family dentistry in Chester for more than 30 years.

Dr. Callery places great focus on continued education in dentistry, attending many courses to stay updated on new techniques and methods to better treat his patients. He is an active member of many professional organizations including the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, Nottoway Study Club, and the Southside Dental Association. He also, at one time, served as a part-time instructor at VCU/MCV School of Dentistry.

He’s also involved with his community and donates his time to several charitable organizations, including years of dedication to the Chester Family YMCA. As he puts it, “it‘s important to give back to the community that has helped to support my dental practice for the past 30 years.“
